Majorly, limited number of daily Facebook users learn how to use Facebook search bar to search for contents on Facebook.

When Facebook unleashed the search bar then, it was to let users conveniently search for whatever they need instead of leaving Facebook for another big search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and Bing, and apparently the goal of the search was achieved.

Meaning that Facebook users no long move away from Facebook before they can search for Facebook content such as photos, videos, etc uploaded by a friend.

And Facebook was able to achieve this. While on Facebook, you can simply search for content you can’t find on your Facebook news feed using the search bar.

Just like any other search engines, you can search for anything on Facebook. As it were, Facebook itself is like a data base where users information is stored for future reference.

Is Facebook Search a Search Engine

A question was posted whether is Facebook a search engine or not? That question was answer by  Mark Zuckerberg When He told Wall Street analysts on his Q4 2013 earnings call that Facebook will overtake Google search engine.

Not only that, the Facebook Co-founder stressed out that Facebook has gotten a bigger ‘index’ of data compared to any other search engines, that Facebook’s artificial intelligent group is working on how to make the indexed data available via Graph search, which could be seen as Facebook search engine, and finally that the company will rolled out mobile devices where Facebook users can easily ask Facebook for advice and have their problem solved through voice call recognition.

But funny enough, that won’t take 1 or 2 years to achieve but will take Facebook artificial intelligent team nothing less than 10 years.

The goal of Facebook is to make Facebook more than a mere search engine in the next one decade. It’s a great job to have gather a total population of more than 1.2 billion users on a single platform and still counting.

On a platform where there are over 1.2 billion users, turning such a platform to search engine isn’t a bad idea just that it will create a more competitive market for existing search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and the upcoming search engines like ask etc.

While still looking Facebook at the realm of being a search engine,  Zuckerberg aimed at use the platform, Facebook to provide answer to question in decade to come just like Google and others does and that alone will make Facebook search dominate the search engine’s world be leveraging on its users.
